Darius Milhaud was certainly one of the most prolific artists of the 20th century. He was a well-known composer in many other fields, such as opera, symphonic repertoire, concertante works in addition to music for films. In the summer of 1927, at 35 years of age, he completed his Opus 100. All of the composer's stylistic qualities (contrapuntal lines, polytonality and polyrhythm) can be found here. However, the style that emerges here is a brutal and uncompromising one, designed to highlight all of the soloist's bravura and virtuosity.
